Lydia Windsor Obituary

Anne Windsor passed peacefully with family by her side on November 11, 2024 at Talbot Hospice in Easton, MD. Mrs. Windsor was born at home in Baltimore, MD on February 24, 1936 to George Everitt and Cordelia Lake Roberts.

When Mrs. Windsor was two years old, she moved to Dorchester County with her mother and two sisters, Betty and Marie. She lived with her grandparents, Edwin Stapleford and Elizabeth Mace Lake. Mrs. Windsor was very proud of her Lake family heritage which was documented in The History of Dorchester County written by Elias Jones.

In 1954, she graduated from Cambridge High School, as the class treasurer. In July of that same year, she married Frederick Ewell Windsor at Saint Mary Refuge of Sinners Catholic Church in Cambridge and moved to their farm on Beaver Neck Road where she lived the rest of her life.

A large part of Mrs. Windsor's life was dedicated to the love and care of her six children. She was especially devoted to her two eldest sons who were mentally handicapped. Mrs. Windsor had a passion for providing delicious home-grown nutritious sustenance and prioritizing guidance to her children. She was also a constant support to her husband in their farming operations throughout her life.

Mrs. Windsor was a devout lifelong member of the Roman Catholic Church, first in Cambridge and then Secretary. She was also active in many community activities to include the Dorchester Hospital Auxiliary, Daughters of the American Revolution, The Robin Hood Shop, the Dorchester Developmental Unit and the Holly Center Citizens Advisory Board. Mrs. Windsor was also a member of the Dorchester County Maryland Farm Bureau, a member of Linkwood-Salem Volunteer Fire Company, and a member of the Cambridge Elks Lodge.

She is survived by her sister, Marie Greenhawk, and five children, Frederick "Rick" Ewell Windsor Jr. of Salisbury, MD, Julia Windsor Yale of Potomac, MD; John Robert Windsor and his wife Marian of East New Market, MD, George Lake Windsor and his wife Dee of East New Market, MD, and Timothy "Tim" Baumann Windsor of Cambridge, MD; eleven grandchildren, Hilary Anne Yale of Live Oak, FL; Kenneth Paul Yale Jr. and his wife Alyssa of Severn, MD; John Robert "Robbie" Windsor Jr. and his wife Melanie of Berlin, MD; Jacob Harper Windsor and his wife Kelsi of Hurlock, MD; Victoria Marie and her husband Paul Akers of Oxford, PA; George Edwin "Ned" Yale of Bethesda, MD; Katherine Cordelia "Kacee" Windsor and her husband PJ Arnold of Preston, MD; Frederick "Erick" Delaha Windsor and his wife Amanda of Linkwood, MD; Lydia Anne Yale and her husband Guhan Palanisamy of Gaithersburg, MD; Susan Irene Henry of Secretary, MD; and George Phillip Windsor and his fiancé Elaina C. Stiles of Linkwood, MD; and 13 great-grandchildren, John "Jack" Howard and James Harper Windsor; Della Louise and Joseph Lake Windsor; William Dustin and Emma Anne Yale; Kennedy Claire Henry; Frederick Ford, Elsie Anne and Alice Bell Windsor; Jael Dahlia and Imogen Amaryllis Miller; and Lavinia "Lovey" Julia Guhan.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Windsor was preceded in death by her husband Frederick, her son James Thomas Windsor and her sister, Betty Roberts Williams of Tiffin OH.

The family would like to acknowledge and thank their brother, Tim for his dedication and care of their Mother.

The pallbearers will be her grandsons, Ken Yale, Robbie Windsor, Jake Windsor, Ned Yale, Erick Windsor, and Phillip Windsor.
