Malek Derakshani Obituary
Born in Tehran, Iran, in 1933, he was the son of the late Ali Akbar Derakshani and Neyer Azam Fakre.OL.Molook Derakshani. After graduating from school in Iran, Dr. Derakshani obtained his doctorate from the Sorbonne in Paris, during which time he met his future wife, Simone. He traveled to the U.S. to obtain further training in pediatrics, and in 1961, he and Simone were married. The Derakshanis traveled back to Iran, and Dr. Derakshani completed his military service, serving as a pediatrician to children living in remote areas. The couple returned to the United States, and Dr. Derakshani worked in various positions before working at the hospital in Cambridge in 1969. The next year, he began working at the hospital in Easton. After a few years, Dr. Derakshani opened his private practic, and worked until his failing health prevented him from doing so. He was a devoted and caring physician, who worked with several generations of the Easton community.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Simone; his children, Philippe Derakshani of Easton, Md., Nathalie Derakshani (Kevin White) of Easton, Md., Pascale Bernasse (Pierre) of St. Michaels, Md., Claudine Derakshani (Kevin Knowles) of Ashburn, Va.; grandchildren, Luc Bernasse, Nina Bernasse, Liam Knowles; and his siblings, Anush, Moni, Shidan and Bahman.
A visitation will be held from noon to 1 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 7, 2019, at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 1210 S. Washington St., Easton. The funeral service will be held following the visitation at 1 p.m. at the church. Burial will be at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Easton.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his honor to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123.

Dr. Derakshani was my doctor when I was young. I will never forget all the times he helped me feel better when I was sick. He was a wonderful person. I will miss him.

As an Easton Pediatric Dentist I had many friendly encounters and helpful professional consultations with Dr. Derakshani. He was always cheerful, knowledgeable, and kind. He genuinely cared for all who entered his practice. May he Rest In Peace .

DR DERAKSHANI was truly a one of a kind doctor. He saved the life of our son several times when he was a baby.He loved all his children as he called them. He will be surely missed.Prayers to his family you were blessed to have him for so many years.
