EASTON - Parke P. Hahn passed away on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C., due to complications from quintuple bypass heart surgery. He was 66.
Born August 4, 1951 in Indianapolis, IN, to Lloyd and Eileen (Lambert) Hahn, he graduated from Wendell L. Willke High School in Elwood, IN in 1969. He relocated to Maryland in 1970 to attend St. Mary's College.
During his working career, Parke opened and managed the Hardee's Restaurant in Easton where he met the former Beverly S. Everngam in 1974, and married on May 8, 1976. Parke continued in the food and beverage industry as an employee of Doc's Quick Shop, H&T Distributing, and Choptank Distributing.
At the age of 37, Parke made a career change and joined the Peoples Bank of Maryland (now PNC Bank). He graduated from Maryland Banking School in 1995, and from the RMA-ECU Advanced Commercial Lending School in 2002. In 2005, he began working for Centreville National Bank (now Shore United Bank), most recently as Vice President and Branch Manager of the Ridgely-Hillsboro Branch.
Parke was very active in his local and banking communities, having taken on several leadership roles throughout the years. During his tenure in Hillsboro, Parke was a committed supporter of the community through United Way of Caroline County, the Ridgely Lions Club, and as a representative of the bank at local fairs and carnivals. He was the current President of United Way of Caroline County as well as President of their Board of Directors. He formerly served as President of Easton Kiwanis Club and President of Ridgely Lions Club for two terms, his second term ending this past June. He previously served on the board of St. Martin's Ministry, the administrative board of St. Mark's United Methodist Church, and was a Chairman of St. Mark's Finance Committee.
In his spare time, Parke cherished being with family and friends, traveling to Charleston to visit his daughter and grandson, and watching and playing sports. He was an avid lover of golf, baseball, and football. From 1991 through 2004, Parke found great joy as a volunteer coach for his daughter's softball teams from T-ball through senior league. He was also a "travel dad" for Shore Field Hockey, cheering on consecutive AAU Championship wins. Parke was a man of integrity, loyalty, and love; his family and friends will miss him dearly.
Parke is survived by his wife of 41 years, Beverly; daughter, Courtney M. Hahn and grandson Walker W. Groves of Charleston, SC; his siblings: Sharon Spring of Mayo, FL; Peggy Reeves of Elwood, IN; his sister-in-law, Teresa Ann Everngam; brothers-in-law: Joseph W. Everngam Jr. (Danette); Mark W.
