Robert Perram Obituary

Robert Edward Perram of Royal Oak died on February 6, 2023. "Bob" born December 2, 1930, in Wooster, Ohio, was son of Edward and Elizabeth Perram.

When Bob graduated from high school he enlisted in the Air Force. Stationed at Keesler Air Base, he attended technical school becoming a radar technician/instructor. After his AF tour, he attended University of Ohio and Indiana Institute of Technology receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering in 1956. He also completed advanced courses in the science of electrical engineering at Drexel.

Bob pursued a career in space programs starting as a project engineer on servomechanism analyses of aircraft and missile electrical power systems, and designing test equipment. He worked on developing flight control systems, and on the design of first Digital Nuclear Power Station Simulator. His projects included working on the Apollo Mission Simulator guidance and flight control mathematical model for the simulator's general-purpose computer to train operators. At the US Naval Research Laboratory, Space Systems Development was a program manager on the Clementine (low-cost satellite that mapped the moon) and, on LACE (Low-power Atmospheric Compensation Experiment).

Bob leaves two daughters and seven grandchildren from his first marriage to Pattiann Irwin: Lorraine Perram Fuqua and two sons, Dustin and Anson, and Heidi Perram and four sons, Andrew, Daniel, Nicholas, Colton, and daughter Haley. Bob had a younger sister, Ruth Perram Lance who predeceased him in October 2019.

Bob's second marriage was to Virginia Page and they shared 49 happy years together, first living in Oxford where they sailed their sloop "Catspaw." After retirement, they moved to a home on the Choptank, where Bob continued pursuing his lifelong interest in sports cars with his 1968 MG MGB Mark II.
