Alan Blacklock Obituary
Alan Herman Blacklock, 85, of Brightwood, VA passed away on September 5, 2025.
Alan was born on July 18, 1940 to Aubrey Henry Blacklock and Judith Dulaney Blacklock in Baltimore, MD. After graduating from Randolph-Macon Academy in 1959, Alan joined the U.S. Air Force where he served 4 years. Stationed at Suffolk County Air Force Base in Westhampton, New York, he was a crew chief and jet engine mechanic working on F-101 Voodoo fighter jets.
While in New York he met his future wife, Rosalie Versaw. They were married on February 24, 1962 at the home of Carlin and Anna Ruth Inskeep in Culpeper.
In 1964, Alan joined the Baltimore County Maryland Police Force where he became a member of the K-9 unit and worked until his retirement in 1986. He then moved to Culpeper and eventually Brightwood, VA where he built his home.
Alan came out of retirement to drive milk trucks for the Inskeep's B.S. Athey Milk Transportation. For 25 years he picked up milk from local dairy farms and transported it to dairies in Virginia and Maryland. He enjoyed driving the trucks and visiting with local farmers. The Inskeep farm at Cedar Mountain was one of his favorite places to spend time. He and his brother, Bud, considered it their second home. Birdwatching, dogs and collecting coins were other simple pleasures that he appreciated.
Alan was predeceased by his parents Aubrey and Judith Blacklock, his maternal grandparents Herman and Lynn Dulaney of Peola Mills, VA and his paternal grandparents Aubrey and Viola Blacklock of Catonsville, MD. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Rosalie Blacklock, son, Robert Blacklock, daughter, Ann Walker (Jimmy), granddaughter, Carlynn Walker (Graham), brother Walter "Bud" Blacklock (Carolyn), nephew, Matthew Blacklock (Megan), niece, Betsy Blacklock (Tim), his special cousins and extended farm family, Tommy Allen (Barbara), Don Richardson, Bernard Inskeep, Jack Inskeep (Paige), Byrd Inskeep (Kitten), Jane Inskeep Barrell (Charlie) and his longtime friend from the police force, Roland Broadfoot.
