Barbara Taylor Obituary

Barbara C. Taylor

Barbara C. Taylor, 87, a native of Lexington, KY, and a resident of Virginia since 1950, was born August 6, 1938, and passed away October 29, 2025. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.

More than anything, Barbara loved her family and friends, enjoyed her hobbies, which included writing, especially poetry, reading, current events, and she was a nationally published photographer.

Barbara's employment history included the USAF at the Pentagon; subsequently joining the private sector in the legal, real estate, and construction management fields for decades, and concluding with her retirement in 2008 after a rewarding career in the US House of Representatives. Upon her retirement, her accomplishments were entered into the Congressional Record. She was, for many years, an active and vibrant member of her Culpeper community before moving to the Fredericksburg area.

Barbara was most happy in the company of the people she loved. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles Taylor; grandson, Grant Taylor; daughter-in-law, Jody Taylor; parents, Robert Cary and Jean Cary; and a multitude of aunts, uncles, and cousins. Survivors include her four children, Mona Taylor of Centreville, VA, Greg Taylor (Carol), of Charlotte, NC, Jeff Taylor (partner Heidi Jerakis) of Fredericksburg, VA, and Sharon Zeimetz (Jeff) of Jacksonville, FL. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Matt, Steve, Jenny, Alex, Hanna, and Garrett; ten great-grandchildren, Joseph, Elijah, Everly, Kallie, Jackson, Payton, Hayleigh, Sydney Elaine, Jayden, and Braylon; along with many friends.

Barbara's message to her family and friends: "When you get the choice to sit it out or dance, I hope you dance."

Interment will be private.

Contributions may be made in Barbara's memory to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (4550 Montgomery Ave, Suite 1100, Bethesda, MD 20814) or Mary Washington Hospital Foundation (1340 Central Park Blvd, Suite 102, Fredericksburg, VA 22401).
