Clyde Whitlock Obituary
Clyde Owen Whitlock, 89, passed away on Monday, June 20, 2022. He is survived by his son, Zeno Lantos; daughter-in-law, Kari Vunk Lantos and grandsons, Alex and Max Lantos of Gaithersburg, Md.; his brother, Roy Whitlock of Elkwood, Va.; his sisters, Thelma Rankins of Fredericksburg, Va.; Catherine Colvin of Brightwood, Va.; Eva Peck of Troutville, Va.; Mary Frances Salgado of Bristow, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.
Clyde was born and raised in Elkwood, Va. He graduated as valedictorian from Floyd T. Binns High School in 1951. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1952 and served two tours in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged as a Senior Master Sergeant in 1972. He continued serving his country in several federal agency roles and owned a local antique shop.
Clyde was incredibly generous, full of wisdom and gave selflessly to many philanthropic causes. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. A private graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 25, 2022 at Elkwood cemetery.
