Danny Goolsby Obituary

Danny Goolsby

December 5, 1949 - December 10, 2024

Danny Steve Goolsby, 75, of Rixeyville, VA died on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at UVA Health Culpeper Medical Center. He was born December 5, 1949, to the late Harrison "Jr." and Elizabeth "Wynona" Goolsby in Alexandria, VA.

You could find Danny most of the time celebrating life at the American Legion Post 330 in Culpeper with some of his closest friends who were like family. He was usually cutting a rug on the dance floor or picking his guitar and singing to some of his favorite classic country songs. Many evenings, if he was not inside the Post he could be found behind it on the ball field enjoying a cold one.

Danny is survived by his two sons, Steve Goolsby and wife, Patsy, and Donny Goolsby and girlfriend, Stacy; four grandchildren, Bradley Goolsby, Marcus Goolsby, Brandon Goolsby, and Christian Goolsby; one special daughter, Denese Gold; five siblings, Charlene Hitt (Bo), Harrison Goolsby, Faye Smith (Rick), Bradley Goolsby (Brenda), and Robin Jeffries (Roger); and a host of extended family and friends.

In addition to his parents, Danny is preceded in death by his wife, Gwendolyn "Dee Dee" Goolsby; and one brother, Richard Goolsby (Carolyn).

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at 1 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel of Culpeper, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Interment will follow at Culpeper National Cemetery, 501 E. Chandler Street, Culpeper, VA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Danny's name to the American Legion Post 330 at 14222 Rixeyville Road, Culpeper, VA 22701.
