It is with both sorrow and gratitude that we celebrate the life of Helen Lee Cornwell Gibson, 78, of Lignum, Virgina who passed away November 15, 2025 at her residence. Born August 16, 1947 in Virginia to the late John Lee and Helen Robinson Cornwell.

Helen was a devoted school bus driver for Culpeper County Schools for 40 years. She was a steady, reassuring presence on Culpeper roads, guiding generations of children to and from school with care and a warm hello.

Outside of work Helen loved sewing and gardening. Sewing was her quiet art. With needle and thread, she created more than clothing - she wove comfort, care, and memory into every piece. Her garden was her sanctuary, where patience took root and kindness bloomed.

She is survived by her children Laura Gibson Lerner (Montgomery), Amy Louise Gibson Estes, Kenneth Gibson Jr., Marie Miller and Jerry Gibson; siblings Judy Cornwell Olinger, and Robert Lee (Buck) Cornwell; in addition to twenty grandchildren and lots of great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Gibson Sr., children Charles Franklin Gibson, Melissa Ann Gibson, and brother Sam (Pop) Cornwell.

Her legacy lives on in the warmth of her creations, the blossoms she planted, and the countless lives she touched along the way.

A Funeral will be held Friday, November 21, 2025 at Moser Funeral Home, 233 Broadview Avenue, Warrenton, VA, 20186 at 1:45 pm.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Interment will follow at Remington Cemetery, 11910 Cemetery Rd., Remington, VA 22734.
