January 23, 1942 - July 4, 2024

Janice "Jan" Carlisle Sherrill Thayer, 82, of Culpeper passed away on July 4, 2024, at Our Father's House in Culpeper.

She was born January 23, 1942, in Staunton, VA to the late Alvin and Alice Tomblin Carlisle. She graduated from Madison County High School.

Jan was an active member of Mount Carmel Baptist Church and had served as a volunteer at Culpeper Hospital. She never knew a stranger and always had a smile, a kind word, and a hug to share. She was a ray of sunshine that will never be replaced and forever be missed.

In addition to her parents, Jan was preceded in death by her first husband, Fred Sherrill; and their daughter, Kimberley Sherrill. She is survived by her husband, George "Bill" Thayer, Jr.; her children, Neil Sherrill, Dana Sherrill (Jennie), and Kenneth Thayer; siblings, Peggy Stevens and Betty Lohr; in addition to her grandchildren, Darien Sherrill, Nathan Sherrill, Ethan Sherrill, Hayden Thayer and Addison Thayer.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Mount Carmel Baptist Church on Saturday, July 27, at 11 a.m.
