FUNERAL HOME

Morris Peters Obituary

Morris Walton Peters

On May 28, 2022, one day shy of his 85th birthday, Morris Walton Peters' calls to go home were answered and his precious spirit was reunited with his heavenly family.

Morris graduated from Culpeper High School in 1956. Prior to his family moving to Culpeper in 1946, he attended a one-room school in Scott County, Virginia, where he was born.

Morris relished reminiscing and sharing memories from his childhood of being born in the Appalachian Mountains.

After graduation, Morris moved to Baltimore where he began his career with the Baltimore Police Force. After his retirement from the police force, Morris and his family returned to Culpeper to live.

Morris' great pride in and patriotism for our country was reflected in many ways, including his 42 years in the U.S. Army Reserves, from which he retired as a 1st Sergeant.

Awaiting to welcome Morris' spirit's transition were his parents, Robert Leonard Peters and Ethel Mae Osborne Peters; his sister, Evelyn Royer; his brother, Franklin Jennings Peters; and more recently his brother, Raymond Leonard Peters; his half-brother, Palmer Gillenwater; his daughter, Laura Lee Peters; his son, Matthew Walton Peters; as well as several nieces and nephews, in-laws, and friends.

Surviving to cherish their precious memories of Morris are his devoted wife, of 63 years, Carryl Greenstreet Peters; his brother, Robert E. Peters; sisters, Helen Smith and Mary Hawthorne; granddaughters, Victoria Lee Hunter, and Kimberly Hunter Banks; his grandson, Quinton Joshua Peters; seven great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Morris will be remembered for his sense of humor, his innumerable and extended stories, his love of auctions, antiques and land. A quieter and lesser-known part of his life was his generosity and personal care for those less fortunate and in poor health.

A funeral service will be held Friday, June 3, 2022, at 1 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA 22701. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, it is requested that a special deed of kindness or a charitable contribution be made in Morris' memory.

Morris' family also wishes to extended their appreciation to Ronnie Peters and Joey Chappell for their unmeasurable friendship, love, caring, time and attention to detail for Morris and Carryl.

Morris was one of a kind, always cheerful and always a friend. We were high school friends and graduated only two years apart. I was always thankful to him for introducing my wife (of 66 years) and I back in 1957 on a blind date. God speed to you Morris.

Morris was a kind and honest person, traits that often don´t exist anymore. My parents, and siblings have always respected Morris and he will be remembered fondly
