Dr. Billy Ray Myers

Dr. Billy Ray Myers January 19, 2022 Dr. Billy Ray Myers, of Gering, passed away January 19, 2022 at the age of 98. Bill's family will host a memorial open house on Saturday, June 18th, from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. at Legacy of the Plains Museum in Gering after a private inurnment at West Lawn Cemetery. We invite anyone that would like to celebrate Doc's life to please come and share memories. To know "Doc" or "Grandpa Bill" was to love him. He never knew a stranger and would enjoy nothing more than people to gather and celebrate. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the staff at the Western Nebraska Veterans home for providing exceptional care during Bill's final years. He truly felt at home there, seemingly knew every person's name and life story, and wanted nothing more than to turn 100 and celebrate with the entire staff. We would also like to thank Regional West Medical Center for all of their care during his surgical adventures in 2021 and during his final days. That care gave us extra time with a man that we all loved very much and we are forever grateful. Because all of the doctors, nurses, and support staff all fought as hard as they could (at his request) he was able to have final visits with each grandchild and live to celebrate the holidays with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
