Constantine Lapaseotes Obituary

BRIDGEPORT - Constantine "Connie" Lapaseotes, 70, died Sunday evening, March 25, 2007, at the Morrill County Community Hospital in Bridgeport.
His Funeral will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, March 30, at the As-sumption Greek Orthodox Church in Bayard with Father Elias Warren and Father Nicholas C. Triantafilou officiating. Interment will be in the Oregon Trail Memorial Cemetery at Bridgeport.
A Trisagion Prayer Service will be Thursday March 29 at 7 p.m. at the Church.
Friends may call at the Jolliffe Funeral Home in Bridgeport, Wednesday March 28 from Noon to 6 p.m. and Thursday, March 29 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Church, Morrill County Community Hospital Foundation or the Bridgeport Community Center Foundation. Connie's obituary may be viewed at www.jolliffefuneralhome.com, where condolences may be left and they will be forwarded to the family.
Constantine was born Oct. 5, 1936, in Bridgeport to Pete and Helen (Bouziuos) Lapaseotes. He attended Bridgeport public schools graduating with the Class of 1954. After graduation he remained in Bridgeport to continue and dramatically expand the family farming operation.
He was united in marriage to Chrysoula (Chris) Tzavaras of Platanos, Greece in Bridgeport Dec. 1, 1957. They would have celebrated their 50th Anniversary later this year. Connie was a very active supporter of the Nebraska farm and ranch economy. He was listed as a Top 10 Beet Grower for many of his early farming years, serving as a director of the Beet Growers Association. He and his family owned and operated the historic Greenwood Ranch and Lapaseotes Feedyard, as well as their own extensive farming operation. He was a director of Dinklage Feed Yards, Inc. and former member of the Governor's Ag Council. He was also a former owner of the Nebraska Potato Shippers and Morrill County Implement in Bridgeport. He was on the board of Panhandle Coop for many years.
He was a lifelong member of the Assumption Orthodox Church in Bayard and served on the church board for most of his adult life. He was a member of the Leadership 100 group and was conferred the honor of Archon of the Church by Archbishop Iakovos in 1974. Connie was also an energetic supporter of the Bridgeport community. He served on the Morrill County Community Hospital Foundation. He was a member of the Oregon Trail Memorial Cemetery board and was a director of Bridgeport Irrigation District. A 33rd degree Mason, Connie was a member of Camp Clarke Lodge #285 AF and AM, the Scottish Rite, the Panhandle Shrine Club, and the Tehema Shrine. He also served for several years on the Nebraska Game & Parks Commission and was on the Board of Directors of Western Bank and National Bank of Commerce. He was a former partner of the Bridgeport Inn and was instrumental in the building of Prairie Winds Community Center in Bridgeport.
He enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family (es-pecially his grandchildren) and friends. He was well known throughout the area as just "Connie" and will be deeply be missed by his wife, children, grandchildren and friends.
He is survived by his wife Chris; sons, Pete (Robin) and Nick (Angie) and daughter, Helen (Steve) Plummer; grandchildren, Costa, Nicole, Cassie, Alexa, and Nicholas Lapaseotes and Allison, Andrew, and Christopher Plummer all of Bridgeport; sisters, Martha (Wendell) Chapman, Stacia (Dan) Whetstone, and Vangie Pappas all of Denver; sister-in-law, Orsinia Lapaseotes of Bridgeport as well as many nephews, nieces and dear friends.
Connie was preceded in death by his parents and his twin brother George. May His Memory Be Eternal!
