Dorothy was born September 15, 1942 to Charles & Elsie (Barkman) Hawley. She spent many enjoyable days at the family farm growing-up in Veteran, WY. She graduated from Veteran High School and attended Eastern Wyoming College. On March 18, 1961, she married the love of her life, Charlie Zavorka. They farmed/ranched at their place on Cherry Creek for then on, raising their five children; until they moved into Torrington, WY in 2019. Dorothy found great joy in being a Wyoming farmer/rancher and raising the kids. Later, she couldn't wait for grandkids to visit. The door was always open for any relative, neighbor, or traveler for conversation, coffee, ice cream, or a sticky bun to eat. Dorothy was the church organist for 37 years and taught CCD and served on the parish council. She also served as Farmers Union Youth Leader and was a Farmers Union board member, attending local meetings and conventions with Charlie. She worked for over 25 years with the US Postal Service in Lingle and Veteran, WY, serving as the Postmaster. There she met many people and provided outstanding customer service. She never knew a stranger and made time to learn something from them and tell a story of two of her own.
Dorothy is survived by her husband of 64 years, Charlie; children, Melany (Rob) Hughes, Chuck (Paula) Zavorka, Veronica (Michael) Mongeon, Jon (Kristy) Zavorka and Susan (Kurt) Eacret; grandchildren, Nolan Zavorka, Alexis (Harry) Magbee, Casey Zavorka, Maggie Hughes, Kaylee Hughes, Liberty Zavorka, Piper Zavorka, Quincy Eacret; and great-granddaughter, Ila Magbee. She is also survived by her sister, Charlene Davis; brother-in-law, Larry Cofer; sisters-in-law, Joyce Hawley, Marjorie Zavorka, Mary Rutar; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Elsie Mae Cofer; brother, Floyd Hawley; brothers-in-law, Don Davis, George Urbanek, Wencel Zavorka, Louis Zavorka, Frank Zavorka, Johnie Donbraska, Ernie Wilkins, Johnie Rutar, Jim Votava and Joe Zavorka; sisters-in-law, Louise Urbanek, Evelyn Zavorka, June Zavorka, Ruth Zavorka, Toni Donbraksa, and Ann Votava.
