Elaine M Freeman February 15, 2022 Elaine M. Freeman passed away February 15, 2022 in Fort Collins, CO. She was born February 11, 1923 in Ansley, NE to Gertrude E. (Wrasse) Wilson and Ernest H Wilson. She moved to Scottsbluff, NE in 1926, graduated from Scottsbluff High School in 1941 and from Scottsbluff Jr. College in 1943. She worked at Scottsbluff Army Air Base for two years. A marriage in 1947 ended in divorce. In 1950 she began a banking career at Scottsbluff National Bank followed by banks in Denver and Minnesota. While living in Denver in 1967 she married Al Freeman in Boulder, CO, and shortly thereafter they moved to St. Paul, MN. His work took them to Mississippi, Alabama and Georgia. In 1974 they located in San Juan, Puerto Rico. After his death in 1981 she returned to Scottsbluff. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Scottsbluff, joining at the age of fifteen and served as a deacon. She was employed by the Scottsbluff County Clerk's office and later by the City of Scottsbluff retiring in 1989. She served as a Foster Grandmother at Longfellow Elementary School for two years. In 1991 she moved to Fort Collins, CO. For three and a half years she was with the Larimer County Job Service placing seniors in parttime jobs. She also served as a Foster Grandmother at Irish Elementary. She was an active and charter member of the Fort Collins Newcomers Alumni Club serving as President, Vice President and Treasurer; former member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and had served as a state officer of Colorado Business and Professional Women's Club. She was a volunteer for Hospice and at Poudre Valley Hospital. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Fort Collins and active in the Senior Breakfast Club and Senior Interdenominational groups. As a volunteer she called on patients in nursing homes and was a member of then COPES at her church. In 1999 she was honored by the Colorado Governor's Older Worker Taskforce and by the International Year of Older Persons "Youth of Yesteryear" by having her life in pictures displayed along with four other seniors in Fort Collins. Elaine was a great fan of the Nebraska Cornhuskers football team and also CSU. She was a fashion model and a cancer survivor. At the age of 88 she took a helicopter ride Oct 14, 2011 and enjoyed it very much. It was on her "things to do" list. Elaine is survived by her sister-in-law Donna Wilson and niece, Pastor Susan Sukraw and husband Joe Sukraw, nephew Scott Wilson all of North Platte, NE, niece Sandra Hurst of Florida and great-nephews Joshua and Benjamin Sukraw, Olathe, KS, Nathan Sukraw and great niece Hannah Sukraw all of North Platte, NE. She is preceded in death by parents, Gertrude and Ernest Wilson, brother Ernie Wilson, husband Al Freeman, very special friend Fred Wangaard, and her dear sister Marcella Engelson.
