Jackie Neuharth Obituary

MINATARE - Jackie L. Neuharth of Minatare, died Monday, Jan. 5, 2009, at her home.
A celebration of her life will be held Friday, Jan. 9, at 10 a.m., at the Scottsbluff Seventh Day Adventist Church, with Pastor Ken Maldonado and Pastor Ron Russell officiating. Interment will follow at the Fairview Cemetery in Scottsbluff. Memorials in her name may be made to the Scottsbluff Seventh Day Adventist Church or to The Panhandle Humane Society. Her obituary may be viewed online at www.jolliffefuneralhome.com where online condolences may be made.
Jackie was born in Lincoln, Neb., to Mamie and Phillip Fischer. She attended Union College in Lincoln and Scotts Bluff Junior College. She married Don Neuharth Oct. 11, 1953, in Scottsbluff. She worked as a substitute teacher and other clerical capacities, the most recent being with Dr. Louis Kleager where she worked for over 22 years, retiring twice.
Jackie was a voracious reader. She was especially fond of books on mountains and mountain climbing. She memorized the elevations of all 54 fourteens in the Colorado Rockies and the 8000 meter peaks in the Himalayas. She also liked flower gardening and loved animals.
She was a longtime member of the Scottsbluff Seventh Day Adventist Church, the Hope Community Club and the Christian Women's Club.
Jackie is survived by her husband of 55 years, Don; their two daughters, Nancy and Mike Abrams, and Donna and Everrett Schneider; and one granddaughter, Natalie Jo Schneider, all of Ft. Collins, Colo.
