Over the course of his career, he participated in four successful startups, three of which are now Fortune 500 companies. Jerry loved music and used his guitar collection to connect and share his favorite songs. His siblings fondly remember him playing in a high school band and at his church youth group coffee house. His daughters learned to sing and harmonize while their Daddy played guitar and sang The Eagles, Peter, Paul and Mary, and Simon and Garfunkel. After returning home from traveling for weeks with work, he would pull out a guitar to reconnect through music. He was affectionately known by various terms of endearment such as Daddy, Dad, Bubbies, Jer, Papa, Pops, and Jerry by his family and friends. Jerry was a hardworking, dedicated, passionate, and caring man. His love of life and the people in it were evident in his selfless acts of service and philanthropy. Jerry was honored to count among his closest friends the associates from around the world and people he met along the way. Jerry's knack of quickly dialing into individual personalities and professions ensured that all felt important and needed. He was a mentor and a hero to many, and he always "showed up" for friends, family, and strangers in need. Jerry lived Philippians 1:21; sharing the gospel with others and knowing his eternal destiny was secured in heaven with the Lord. The greatest legacy he leaves his family and friends - and everyone he met - is a foundation of love - of God and for people. Even after receiving his prognosis, he could be heard humming, "This is the day that the Lord has made, Let us rejoice and be glad in it." as he walked down the MD Anderson hallway.
