Marlin Barnes Obituary
PRESCOTT, Ariz. - Marlin "Mert" Barnes passed away Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2012, at the VA Hospital in Prescott, Ariz. At his request cremation has taken place and there will be no services.
Mert was born in Tabor, Iowa, Dec. 29, 1939, to Dale and Hazel (Harden) Barnes. He attended school in Torrington, Wyo. and later joined the Army and was stationed in Germany. Mert married Patricia Schrader July 29, 1965, and to this union four daughters were born. He worked for Ace Body Shop in Scottsbluff then opened his own car body shop in Leadville, Colo. After retirement Mert moved to Ash Fork, Ariz. until his passing. He loved the tranquility of the great outdoors with his special companion "Lady" always by his side.
Survivors include his daughters, Kelly (Jeff) Ty-ler, Ft. Drum, N.Y., Sherri Ensrud, Scottsbluff, Marcie (Pete) Ramirez, Lyman and Tara Barnes, Ft. Collins, Colo.; grandchildren, Adrien Tyler, Jerah Stovall, Zac and Aysia Ensrud, Kasey and Amey Peterson, Jacob Mateo and Tarah Ramirez and Jesse Barnes; great-grandchildren, Izaiah, Serenity, Averie and Christopher; sisters, Ethel Cook, Essex, Iowa, Marilyn Gound, New Brunswick, Texas, Iris (Don) Williams Cathays, Calif., Doris Peters, Troy, Mich., Jo Ross, Rancho Cordova, Calif., Maggie Harden (Gerald) Harden, Scottsbluff, Maryland Barnes, Scottsbluff. Uncle Mert also had 32 nieces and nephews and aunt Twila Splinter of Warsaw, Ind.
Preceding Mert in death, his ex-wife Patricia; twin grandchildren, Lily and Noah Tyler; his parents; brothers, Robert and Elmer Barnes; sisters, Mildred Doyle and Shirley Loveless.
Our family wants to thank Luke and Denise Gibson of Ash Fork, Ariz., longtime friends and family to Mert. They were always there in a time of need for him. Our deep thankfulness can't be expressed enough to Luke and Denise for being with our brother, father and grandfather, during the last weeks of his glorious life, and by his side when he passed to go home to be with our dear Lord.
His loving family and friends will sadly miss Mert.
