Mary Daniels Diercks Obituary
GORDON - Mary Borron Daniels Diercks, died Friday, July 1, 2011, at Countryside Care in Gordon.
She is interred in the Hay Springs Cemetery.
Memorials may be given in Mary's name to St. Leo's Catholic Church, Gordon Volunteer Rescue Squad or Little Lambs Pre-school in Gordon.
Mary was born March 28, 1923, in Red Lodge, Mont. to Lee and Pauline (Niethammer) Borron and moved with her family to Hay Springs when she was a year old.
After graduating from high school in 1941 Mary attended Chadron State College, was a secretary at Ft. Robinson and during the war she worked in New York City for American Airlines as a Flight Operations Inspector.
She married Colonel E.M. Daniels in 1950 and they lived together on the 5A Ranch near Birney, Mont. for 40 years. Mary was a founding member of the Northern Plains Re-source Council; an organization dedicated to supporting and protecting family farms and ranches.
After Colonel died, Mary attended an all class reunion in Hay Springs and renewed her friendship, and love, with an old high school beau – Franck Diercks. They were married in 1993 and made their home in Gordon. After Franck died, Mary volunteered at Little Lambs Pre-school in Gordon where she found solace and delight in the presence of young children. She also busied herself managing her rentals in Gordon and delighted in the people of Gordon.
Survivors include her "family" and cousins, Mike (Karen) Stevenson in Miles City, Mont. and Greta, Ann, and Vince; sister-in-law, Margaret Diercks in Gordon; niece, Kathy Rose in Hemet, Calif., and nephew, John (Molly) Rose in Houston, Texas. In addition, she is survived by more cousins, nieces and nephews and a multitude of friends who hold her in a special place in their hearts.
Preceding Mary in death were her parents, sisters, Clara, Helen, Katherine, Josephine; brothers, Charlie and Edwin; husbands, Col. E.M. Daniels and Franck Diercks. Mary has finally arrived at the ulti-mate family reunion and what a time she must be having!
