Dr. Richard R. "Dick" Frahm

November 17, 1939 - July 23, 2025

Dr. Richard R. "Dick" Frahm died on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at the age of 85 at his home in Roanoke, Va.

He was originally from Lyman, Nebraska with his parents, Robert L. and Muriel Frahm and his three siblings. He was on the faculty at OSU's Animal Science Department. After 20 years, he became Head of Virginia Tech's Animal Science Department, Blacksburg, Va. He finished his career as National Program leader for Animal Genetics for United States Department of Agriculture.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Leroy and Roger; his sister, Phyllis; a daughter, Kathy; and his brother-in-law, Robert Farmer.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce of 64 years; daughter, Lorinda Straley; grandchildren, Erin Cole (Hunter) and Chapman Straley; brother-in-law, William Farmer (Sherry); sister-in-law, Joanie Frahm; and nephews and nieces.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the University of Nebraska Foundation and send them to Joyce Frahm for processing.

The Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Covenant Presbyterian Church, Roanoke, Va. Condolences may be made to the family at www.Oakeys.com.
