Mr. Carroll Jones, 89, passed away on November 9, 2024, at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo. Mr. Carroll was born on February 1, 1935, in Oktibbeha County, to the late Bilbo and Jewel Virginia Gray Jones. He was a Veteran of the United States Marine Corp, having been recognized as an expert marksmen. He was a graduate of Starkville High School, where he excelled in football. He worked in Management for Weavexx in Starkville for 36 years. He was an avid hunter and outdoors men. He was an avid and accomplished vegetable gardener and wood worker. He was a member of the American Legion. He loved the United States of America to the point that before being admitted to Sanctuary Hospice House, Mr. Carroll had his daughter carry him to the courthouse to vote in the recent Presidential election. He truly loved people. He was always willing to help out carrying people to doctor's appointment or whatever was needed. He as a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. He was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Lou Rogers and a brother, Donald Jones.
Graveside services will be on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. from Memorial Garden Park in Starkville with Reverend Todd Chesser officiating. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.
Survivors include his two daughters, Janice Jones Howard (Paul) of Joshua, Texas, and Karen Jones of Burleson, Texas: one son, James "Jim" Jones (Laura) of Columbia, South Carolina: seven grandchildren, Austin Howard (Priscilla) of Burleson, Texas, Candace Williams of Joshua, Texas, Ashlyn Johnson (Matt) of Burleson, Texas, Jamie Wood (Chad) of Nacogdoches, Texas, Benjamin Howard (Monique) of Joshua, Texas, Justin Jones (Kelsey) of Ackerman, and Morgan Porter (Carson) of New Braunfels, Texas: twenty-two great-grandchildren, two sisters, Katie Lou O'Brian of Green Cove Springs, Florida and Margie Blankenship of Warm Springs, Georgia: sister-in-law, Christine Jones of Pulaski, Virginia, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Honorary Pallbearers will be the Nurses and Staff of Sanctuary Hospice House and Dr. Brian Friloux.
