Paul Millsaps, 68, passed away at his residence on Wednesday, January 20, 2021. Born May 6, 1952, to Paul and Edith Davis Millsaps, Paul was a lifelong Starkville native graduating from Starkville High School and Mississippi State University. What started as a shared love of football with his father led to his playing for the Yellowjackets and the Bulldogs. Paul's love for football was second only to the tremendous love that he had for his family.
After running his family automobile dealership for 33 years, Paul graduated cum laude with a J. D. from the University of Mississippi Law School in 2013 and set up a law practice specializing in elder law. Paul delighted in being of service to others through his law practice.
Throughout his life, Paul was also honored to serve the Starkville community that he loved. He served on the Starkville Public Schools School Board and was a past president and Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary International. In recent years, Paul served as the first chairman of Casserole Kitchen, a food outreach program whose mission is to serve hot, nutritious meals to anyone in need at no charge.
Paul is survived by his loving wife Tracey; his daughters Carley Stein (Brad) of Asheville, NC; and Julia Griffith (Wade) of Durango, CO; his son Baxter Billingsley (Emily) of Dallas, TX; six grandchildren; and his sister Ann Forester of Oxford, MS.
A family service will be held at The Episcopal Church of the Resurrection in Starkville on Saturday, January 23, at 10:00 a.m. The church service will be followed by an inurnment in the columbarium at 10:30. Friends of the family are welcome to attend this outdoor ceremony. The family requests that masks be worn.
Memorials may be made to the Casserole Kitchen through The Episcopal Church of the Resurrection website at https://ecr.breezechms.com/give/online.

I was deeply saddened to learn of Paul’s death. He was a smart and talented individual. Most importantly, however, was his strong faith in Jesus Christ. Paul and I served together as deacons in our church. Although I went to school and played football with Paul, I didn’t appreciate his spiritual side until much later. He left a strong impression on those he interacted with and was willing to assist those who were less fortunate.

My prayers go out to Tracey and the rest of his family and friends.

Like so many others, I am deeply saddened to learn of Paul's death. My heartfelt sympathy to all of Paul's family. I was fortunate having grown up during a special era in Starkville and very grateful for having shared that time with Paul. He was a leader and a positive influence for those around him. Besides being very smart, handsome, and athletic, Paul was a true gentleman in every sense of the word. He will be missed by so many. May the wonderful memories always bring you comfort and joy.
