Army veteran, retired after insurance career, of Bloomfield Francis Joseph Helmstetter Jr. of Bloomfield passed away on Monday, September 13, 2021 at the age of 85. He passed away peacefully at home, spending his last days surrounded by his family. Frank was born on May 6, 1936 in Newark, NJ to Francis Sr. and Veronica (nee Grill). Frank graduated from St. Charles High School, Newark in 1954 and Seton Hall University in 1958. Frank married Roseann Brown in 1959 and moved to Bloomfield in 1960, where they raised their family. He served proudly in the United States Army during peacetime and was honorably discharged in 1964. Frank was employed by the Equitable Life Assurance Society for 32 years. He was an active parishioner of St. Thomas the Apostle Church. Frank is predeceased by his parents; his brother, Jack and his son-in-law Peter Cannone. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Roseann; sisters Marguerite Shaffery and Agnes Harbison; three children Thomas (Angela), Michael (Marianne) and Barbara Cannone; his seven granddaughters; and one great grandson. Wake is Monday, September 20 from 3-8 pm at the Halpin-Bitecola Funeral Home, 1284 Broad Street, Bloomfield, N.J. Funeral Mass will be on Tuesday, September 21st at 10:00 am at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Bloomfield, N.J. Interment will follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Upper Montclair, N.J. So sorry to hear of your loss. As much as we realize our mortality is lessening as we age, it's still hard to accept. My thoughts and prayers for you Roseann and your family. May Whitey rest in peace.

I am sorry to learn of Mr. Helmstetter´s passing; I remember him as a loyal and active parent at Essex Catholic High School. May he have eternal rest, and his family know God´s peace.
