1928-2022 Joan Sutton was born on May 19, 1928 and passed away seconds after receiving a warm hug from her two-year-old great-grandson on January 9, 2022. The only child of Rose and Samuel Sherman, she was raised in Passaic, NJ. In that close knit community of her generation, Joan cherished friendships and memories throughout her life. After graduating from Ohio University with a degree in education, she worked as a schoolteacher and enjoyed all sports with a particular interest in tennis and horseback riding. During a riding outing, she met Robert Sutton, whom she was married to for 45 years and spent most of her life in Bloomfield, NJ. Joan was truly loved and admired by a wide circle of family and friends who appreciated her warmth and welcoming smile and whose door was aways open to neighbors for coffee and cake at a moments notice. She was a devoted mother to sons Michael and Paul, daughters-in-law Debbie and Emily, grandsons Gregory, Taylor, his wife Gabby, Troy, granddaughter Erica, her husband Joshua, and great-grandson Spencer.
