LURE RYAN Obituary

Lure Ryan Newark centenarian, born at the dawn of the last century Lure Ryan, age 110, made her transition on Feb. 4, 2018. A celebration of her life will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Mount Calvary Baptist Church, 235 Seymour Ave., Newark, N.J. Interment is in Glendale Cemetery, Bloomfield, N.J. Visitation is Monday from 9 a.m. until time of service at the church. Arrangements are by Whigham Funeral Home. Born in Edgefield, S.C., Lure was a resident of Newark, N.J., for many years. She was a retired presser for the garment industry. She was the beloved wife of the late Charles Ryan; devoted mother of Hester Powell, Harold Ryan, Geneva and Calvin Dickerson, and the late Lorraine Miller, Gilbert Ryan, Robert Dickerson and Doris McClellan; dear daughter of the late Robert M. and Mattie E. Brunson; loving sister of James, Oneal, and the late Mamie Sue, Sophie, Georgia, Mattie, Viola, George, Sylvester, and Steve. She is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other relatives, and friends.
