Dorothy Konzelman Obituary
Greenwood - Dorothy A. (Nelson) Konzelman, 104, of Greenwood, IN, formerly of Oxford, IN passed away Friday, November 15, 2019 at her residence in Greenwood, IN. She was born May 3, 1915 in Greensburg, IN to Ronald D. and Ella Jane (Hiles) Nelson. She married Harold D. Konzelman on June 18, 1939 in Greensburg, IN, he preceded her in death on January 20, 1982.
Dorothy and her husband Harold were the owners of Konzelman Funeral Homes in Oxford and Fowler, IN. She was a member of Greenwood Presbyterian Church, a 75 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star and was a multiple medalist in the U.S. Senior Games.
Survivors include her son William Konzelman (Joan) of Pensacola, FL; her daughter Elizabeth Gilliland of Greenwood, IN; granddaughter Jill Konzelman-Wilson of Pensacola, FL; great-grandchildren Savannah, Skylar, Kyle and Colton Wilson, Grace and Sophia Gilliland; and granddaughter-in-law Angie M. Gilliland of Greenwood, IN.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters Zelpha Bewley, Carol Lawson and Maxine Layton; and two brothers Ronald Nelson Jr. and Richard, Nelson; a grandson William Gilliland and son-in- law Conrad Gilliland.
The Reverend Peter Zinn will conduct a service on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at 11AM at the Greenwood Presbyterian Church, 102 West Main Street, in Greenwood, IN, where friends may call from 10AM till service time at the church. A graveside service will follow on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at 3PM at Justus Cemetery in Oxford, IN, being conducted by Pastor Linda Sproull. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions be made to the Greenwood Presbyterian Church, 102 West Main Street, Greenwood, IN, 46142 or Main Street Hospice, 10 Highland Avenue, Franklin, IN, 46131. Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN is handling the arrangements. I have known Dorothy and her immediate family my entire life. She was always pleasant and wanted to know about was happening in my life. She was a devout Christian and was very alert until she passed.
My sister and I had the opportunity to visit her several times. We loved to hear how she and her husband met. Her daughter, Betty, has been Norma and & I best friend for 76 years. We consider it a blessing to have known her.
