Retired Kearny police sergeant; 'loved spending time with family' Richard R. Brodie, 68, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family October 7, 2021, at St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston. Born in Newark and formerly of Cranford, he was a resident of Clark. Friends and relatives are invited to visit Thursday, October 14, from 4-8 pm at the Dooley Funeral Home, 218 North Ave. West, Cranford, N.J., 07016. Richard served as a police officer for over 25 years with the Kearny Police Department. He retired as a Sergeant in 2014. He was an avid Mets and Giants fan, and loved spending time with his family. His greatest joy was being a grandpa to his three grandkids. Surviving are his devoted children, Kaitlin and her husband Michael, Ryan and his fiancee, Julianne, and Kevin; his beloved grandchildren, Ava, James, and Nathan.
