Joe was in my high school class of 1959 and what a privilege to have known him. Not only was he an amazing athlete, but such a nice person, humble, friendly, and kind. My sincere sympathy to his family.

I, too, went to Rahway High with Joe. What a fantastic football player!
He was a super star! He will be missed so much; and, certainly left us all, much too soon.
My deepest sympathy to Joe's family.

I will always love Rotten Rudy, alias Gentleman Joe, The Great Joe Williams.
I met Joe in the third grade at Grover Cleveland Grammar School we became the best of friends. Joe's greatness was evident at an early age when he played on the 8th grade football team.
He led us to an unscored upon season and that nucleus of football players was later to become the greatest football team that Rahway High ever produced, the 1958 football team. Joe was named to the all state and Parade Magazine All American Football teams of that same year.
Upon graduation we made many road trips to Iowa, me to Northern Iowa and Joe to The University of Iowa. Our bond of friendship grew stronger during those trips.
Rudy's Next step was with the Atlanta Falcons, then off to Canada to play for the Winnipeg
Bommers. Joe had a great career in Canada.
The true greatness of my friend was that in all of the years that I knew Joe, he never ever spoke of his many achievements. Joe was humble and soft spoken and very easy to talk to about whatever you wished.
I will always keep Joe close to my heart and remember him warmly.

My sincere condolences to Joe's family. I remember Joe from High School and what a terrific individual he was. He was always a stand up guy in all ways. I am sure you will all miss him. I have thought about him through the years and hoped the very best for him. Nice to know he had a large loving family. As a classmate I loved him. All my thoughts, Jeri Cook Jefferis, Yardley, PA

Had the honor of being a teammate of Joe on RHS basketball & baseball teams. Best HS running back I ever saw on the football field. Saw Joe score 4 TD's in 1 game for Iowa. Got to work some with Joe in Union Co.while an FBI Agent in the Newark Office. He was an excellent law enforcement officer and a real nice guy. My condolences to his family.

I will always remember Joe fondly from our high school days. (He would've known me as Patty Wishart.) I'm sorry your family has lost him so soon.
