Bettie J. Nitcholas

Bettie Nitcholas of Georgetown passed away on June 19, 2021 at the age of 86. Bettie was born on May 13, 1935 in Van Alstyne, Texas to E. T. and Jewel Britton. She grew up in McKinney, Texas and graduated from McKinney High School in 1953. During High School, Bettie was a cheerleader, a class favorite and a Miss Texas Contestant. She attended North Texas State University and was named Miss North Texas State her Freshman year.

In 1954 Bettie married her high school sweetheart, a marriage that lasted over 66 years until her death.

Bettie was a devout Catholic all her life and was always active in her church. During the past 40 years as a member of St. Helen Church in Georgetown, Bettie served in many capacities including the Building Committee, Sacristan Duties, Ladies Club President among others. She was lovingly referred to as Saint Bettie by one of the priests.

Bettie is survived by her husband, Monty Nitcholas, her daughter Diane Simpson (Jim), her two sons, Kent Nitcholas (Brenda) and Mark Nitcholas (Zamara). Survivors also include nine grandchildren, Levi, Lucas, Megan, Mandy, Dawson, Reid, Liliana, Paloma and Nina. She also has seven great grandchildren.

Bettie was preceded in death by her parents, her three sisters, Ruby Scott, Linda Britton and Gail Wall and one son, David Lee Nitcholas.

Pallbearers for Bettie will be Levi Simpson, Lucas Simpson, Dawson Nitcholas, Reid Nitcholas, Jim Simpson and Stephen Woodward.

There will be a visitation on Friday, June 25th from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Ramsey Funeral Home in Georgetown, Texas.

Services will be held on Saturday, June 26th at 10:00 am at St. Helen Catholic Church in Georgetown, Texas.

Bettie will then be laid to rest at Our Lady of the Rosary Cemetery in Georgetown, Texas.
