GAIL BARNETT Obituary

BARNETT

March 9, 1042 -

October 26, 2025

Plano - Gail Evelyn (Lemnah) Barnett, 83, of Plano, Texas, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 26, 2025, at Horizon Rehabilitation Hospital in McKinney.

Born March 9, 1942, in Springfield, Massachusetts, Gail moved to Colorado as a young girl, living most of her life across Colorado, Washington, Nebraska, and Texas. In Colorado, she discovered her lifelong love of nature.

Gail's Lutheran faith, found as a young person, sustained her throughout her life. She worked as an engineering technician at Honeywell Marine Systems Division in Seattle, advancing from secretary to technical work that engaged her analytical mind.

Gail was a Jill of Many Trades: a skilled marksman, school bus driver, award-winning rosarian, and Girl Scout leader. An extrovert and lifelong animal lover, she found joy in games, connection, and being surrounded by nature's wildlife.

Despite living with Peripheral Neurofibromatosis for many years, Gail chose gentleness, hope, and beauty. Her legacy of kindness lives on through her son Scott Simon and his wife Erin (Drew) Simon, and their children Isaac and Jay; and her daughter Valerie (Simon) and son-in-law Erik Noll.

There will be no formal service. To honor Gail, go into nature and find a living thing. Be present with it. Treasure it. See the wonder she saw.
