LAWRENCE STUART Obituary

STUART, III

Stuart III, Lawrence “David” was born in Dallas, Texas on March 3, 1971 and passed away on May 4, 2021 in Richardson, Texas. A lifelong North Texan, David graduated from Highland Park High School in 1989 and studied film at University of North Texas and The Art Institute of Dallas. David was a lifelong writer and avid lover of film, literature, music and sports. He is survived by his children Zachary, Sean and Madison; his parents Lawrence D. Stuart, Jr. & Venise Stuart and Jane P. Buck & Richard Buck; a sister Susan Heinen and nephew Mathew and niece Olivia; a brother Marcus Stuart and numerous beloved family members and friends.

David was a patient, nurturing and loving father to his children. No matter the circumstance, he could be counted on for warm words, affection and often-times a good joke. Many times he would be the first call during anything important that was happening in their lives. He took great interest in his children's happiness; making sure to teach his sons about sports and enjoying a love for gaming with his daughter. His children were paramount in his life and a great source of love and pride for him.

David was known to be a very compassionate and kind soul. He cared very deeply for others and strove to be a trustworthy confidante for anyone he was close with. David had a remarkable ability to remember sports trivia and could easily recall the rosters and statistics from a variety of athletic teams and athletes. He was absolutely captivated by The Doors, Charles Bukowski and other provocative artists from both before and during his lifetime. A variety of movies, film, short stories, novels, poetry and music were very important throughout his life. There were not many days when he did not take some time to read, write, listen to a favorite song or watch a favorite movie.

David's family and friends will celebrate his life in a private memorial held in Dallas, Texas on May 15, 2021. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the National Alliance on Mental Illness which was a cause very close to David's heart.

David you were such a big prominent part of our teenage years and early 20s. I love that you still kept in touch and were interested in what was going on with my life and shared what was going on with yours. You shared your triumphs of getting published and most importantly the joy and love you felt for your children. You will be missed, but I will always hold those memories close to my heart. God needed another angel and you got your wings! Will always treasure our memories. Much love and God bless you and your family!

My uncle David was instrumental for my love of sports. Growing up I did not have a father. My uncle David took on a role in my life that was important and impactful. He always made time to run football plays with my brother and I. He was always teaching me about baseball. He would play outside with me all day because all I wanted to do was play basketball. He helped introduce me the Mavericks and we would talk basketball all day with me. He was an amazing person, great father, and loving uncle. His biggest impact on my life was showing me how a father treats his children and the amazing impact a great man and role model can have on a young child’s life.

David was a good person with a heart of gold . He introduced my sons (his nephews) to sports and would practice basketball and baseball and whatever else they might be into at the time. He had a great laugh and sense of humor and a knack for practical jokes.

He had tremendous pride in his children and he was all in when my nephew Sean was born, even dressing up as Tigger for Halloween. He was loved and admired and will be missed and remembered in our hearts forever.
