Leah Branum of Lucas, Texas lost her battle with colon cancer on July 8, 2021 after a courageous 3-year fight. She was brave and determined to the end.
Leah was born on November 11, 1974 to James and Lillian (Hoehne) McCutcheon in Houston, Texas. She was a 1993 graduate of Allen High School and a 1997 graduate of The University of Texas at Austin. Leah married Jeffrey Branum on March 2, 2002 in Dallas, Texas. She had a career in marketing for the food and retail industries. She is survived by her husband, Jeff Branum; sons, William and Marshall Branum; parents, James and Lillian McCutcheon of Allen; brother, Kyle McCutcheon of Allen; grandmother, Dora Hoehne of La Grange, and many other extended family members and friends who loved her very much.
She was fiercely loyal, sneaky smart and quietly hilarious. She loved Texas country music and INXS, the Texas Longhorns and the Lovejoy Leopards. She loved labradors, the color grey and not being the center of attention. She did not love Stevie Nicks and it was likely the only negative thing anybody ever heard her say about anyone. But most of all Leah loved her boys. She was their biggest fan and their biggest supporter, she lived as if she knew her time with them would be way too short. It was this same kind of devotion that her boys supported her with and sustained her with as she tried so desperately to defeat cancer. A love like that is a bond even death cannot break.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, July 23, 2021 at Turrentine Jackson Morrow Funeral Home, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, July 24, 2021 at Chase Oaks Church - Sloan Creek Campus, 611 East Stacy Road, Fairview, Texas 75069.
