Susie Brennes went to be with the Lord on July 28, 2021. She died peacefully in her home in Driftwood, TX surrounded by her husband and two children. Susie was born in September of 1947 in El Dorado, Arkansas.
Susie graduated from El Dorado High School in the Class of 1965 and then attended State College of Arkansas/University of Central Arkansas where she was a member of the Epsilon Xi Chapter of Delta Zeta sorority, the T-Stepper drill team, graduating from Louisiana Tech University with a Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design. Susie and Rick were married in June of 1969 at Second Baptist Church, El Dorado, AR. They resided in Texas for the remainder of their marriage. They lived in Dallas, Longview, Garland, Plano, and in retirement, Driftwood, just outside of Austin.
Susie had a distinguished career in the commercial design field with notable projects in banking, medical, and commercial space. She was one of the lead and award-winning designers on the Electronic Data Systems Corporate headquarters in Plano, TX. She also taught Interior Design at Art Institute of Dallas.
She loved arts and crafts where she was able to use her exceptional creativity. This love included art festivals, her plants, her fur babies, and hummingbirds. She was an avid fan of action and scary movies. Her world always revolved around her children and most especially her granddaughter Baker. Her nickname with Baker is Lolli. Rick's nickname is Pop. Together they are LolliPop!
She was a very active member of the First Baptist Church of Dripping Springs. A voracious reader, she was a member of the lady's Book Club and participated in many other church activities. She had many very close friendships through the church and throughout her neighborhood. She was loved by all.
Visitation will be at 10:00 followed by A Celebration of Life at the First Baptist Church, Dripping Springs on Saturday, August 14th at 11:00. Reception and lunch follow immediately after the service. As a Celebration of Life, the family has requested that attendees wear cheerful, happy clothing and please volunteer to share stories about Susie with others. That would make her very happy. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the cancer or animal rescue organization of your choice.
She is preceded in death by her loving parents Bob and Billie Crowder, also of El Dorado. She is survived by her husband Rick, daughter Stefanie of Driftwood, TX, her son Ricky, daughter-in-law Erica, her most precious granddaughter Baker, brother-in-law Robert Brennes, all of Austin.
