Alan Moore Obituary

ALAN DELYNN MOORE Mr. Alan DeLynn Moore passed away on Sunday, August 9, 2015 at Kiser Hospice House in Salisbury, NC. He was 79 years old. Born in Delco, NC, Alan was raised in Carolina Beach, NC. He attended Carolina Beach Grammar School and was a graduate of New Hannover High School in Wilmington, NC. He attended the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill and the University of Maryland. He was a career United States Air Force (USAF) Non-Commissioned Officer, retiring from active duty in 1974. After serving in the USAF, he began a second profession and for 25 years worked as an Orthodontic Technician for Dr. W. Smith Kirk and Dr. R. Byron Moore in Salisbury. Alan was a 32nd degree Mason and member of the Muenster Lodge, located in Ulm, Germany. He was a warm, caring and private individual who was devoted to his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ethel Peterson Moore and Carl Hurley Moore; brother, Donald W. Moore of Wilmington, NC. Alan is survived by his wife, Ida B. (Huggins) Moore, to whom he was married for 58 years. He has two sons and their wives: Dr. Alan D. Moore, Jr. and Mila (Johnson) Moore of Houston, TX, and Michael W. Moore and Melanie (Hopper) Moore of Richmond, VA. He also has three grandchildren, Alan D. Moore, III, John T. Moore of Houston, TX and Mia A. Moore of Richmond, VA. Alan has two surviving siblings, Dr. R. Byron Moore and wife Judy of Kure Beach and Winston Salem, NC and Mrs. Rachel Dianne Moore DuBose and husband Jeff of Wrightsville Beach, NC. Alan has 10 nieces and nephews. There will be a Celebration of Life at the Milford Hills Baptist Church on Saturday, August 15, 2015 at 4 PM followed by a reception and visitation in the Fellowship Hall. Alan will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery, which is located across the Potomac River from Washington, DC. Alan requested no flowers, but a charitable gift to the Masonic Home for Children at Oxford, NC or to the Glenn A. Kiser Hospice House. Summersett Funeral Home is serving the Moore family. I know he was a great man for no other reason than the fine son he and your Mom have in you...the fruit, I'm sure, didn't fall far from the tree.
