BEBE THOMPSON Obituary
Born in Wadesboro, NC, on July 18, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Wallace Henry and Isla P. Watson Stokes.
She graduated from the Woman's College of Greensboro, NC, and the Virginia Intermont College, Bristol, VA. Mrs. Thompson was a member of Wrightsville United Methodist Church and was past president of Harbor Island Garden Club, the Garden Council of New Hanover County, past member of Nationally Accredited Flower Show Judges. She was a member and past president of the New Hanover Regional Medical Center Auxiliary, was a member of the R.S.V.P., the Mary & Martha Church Circle, was a volunteer at new Hanover International Airport and was retired from Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Service.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 42 years, Robert Lee "Bob" Thompson, Jr.
Survivors include a son, Robert Lee Thompson, III of Keaau, HI; three daughters, Barbara "Sweetie" Thompson Francis and husband Bill of Wilmington, Judy Thompson Matthis and husband Stu of Charlotte, NC, Jean Thompson Pearce and husband Ned of Wilmington; fourteen grandchildren and twenty-seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Friday, December, 28, 2007, at Wrightsville United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in Oleander Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 p.m. Thursday at Coble Ward-Smith Funeral & Cremation Service, Oleander Chapel.
Grandsons of Mrs. Thompson will serve as pallbearers, J. Edward Williams, Robert C. Williams, Stephen M. Williams, Alan T. Williams, William S. Matthis, Michael B. Davis, Jr., Charles P. Bolles Davis and William Bradford Francis.
Memorials may be made to the Wrightsville United Methodist Church at 4 Live Oak Dr., Wrightsville Beach, NC 28480 or to Lower Cape Fear Hospice at 1406 Physicians Drive., Wilmington, NC 28401.

I was out of town the day of Bebe's funeral, so could not attend. I remember Bebe with fond memories since I was a guest at their home many times as a child. I always had lots of fun with "the Thompson's" and Bebe always made me feel very welcome in her home.

Only recall Bebe in high school. I was much younger but lived in her neighborhood and always recall just how pretty and nice she was

Our prayers are with you in this time of sorrow. I will miss Bebe for her weekly visits. However I know shes in a better place. I know Bruce will miss Bebe too. She would sneak him a candybar once in a while, because I wouldn't let him have any. So that was always a little joke with us.
