Gayle, We never forget the love and wonderful times we shared with our loved ones. I remember your sharing those wonderful times and events. May God continue to provide you and family continuous comfort. I'm sure he and JR are sharing the earlier and find memories of NASCAR. You have and will be in continuous prayers and thoughts.

So sorry to hear of the passing of my dear friend from my days in Wilmington...He taught me a lot about racing, about NASCAR, and about life...My condolences to the family (especially the girls and L.C.)...Though the pain will linger for a time, always remember that he now sings with the angels and rests in the bosom of the Almighty -- and we all WILL see him again one day...God Bless and keep you all.....

Here is a candle for Hoss, because he was the light for his family, and anyone who knew hem. Our grandma, always said, when someone passed away, "today we are sad, but he is happy, because he is in a place where there is no pain, and no worries!" God Bless his family, he loved them dearly!

Worked for Hoss when I got out of school and he was a class act. Man I will never forget the days working at Hercules working for Hoss and the times me CB, Wayne, L.C. had. Going to Snoopy's Pizza and watching race films. You will be missed Hoss and I always had the most respect for you.
God bless all of you and I am sorry for your loss but remember Hoss is in the winners circle smiling.

I grew up in Wilmington in the 1960's,1970's, and early 1980's and remember attending Darlington, Daytona, Rockingham, Charlotte, and Atlanta to cheer "Team Ellington." I watched another loyal driver for Hoss, Jackie Rodgers, compete hard in more than one race. Wilmington has lost a self-made man. NASCAR has lost an owner who typified the owners of that time. A time before big money, big sponsorships, and national television coverage. It was an honor to watch the man compete. RIP and condolences to the family of Mr. Ellington.
