Trudy, there is not a day that goes by that I do not think of him. I will never forgive myself for letting so many years go by and loosing contact with both of you. Charlie and I had a special relationship, he was the brother I never had.
He will always be in my heart.

Remember meeting Charley in 7th grade. Thats when the fun started. I always envied his life long relationship with Trudy. I was happy he picked a profession that brought the best out of him. Good by my friend youll be sorely missed.

Dear Trudy,

I just learned of Charlies passing. I was so sorry to hear that sad news. He was one of the kindest men I ever met. We had such fun coaching together in those early years of women's football. We always said we should write a book! But we were too busy living and laughing our way through what was one of the most enjoyable coaching experiences of my life!
Looking back I realize that time was made special because it was shared with people like Charlie and you. I would have been in touch sooner had I known.
I will plan on seeing you at the June service.

Please accept my deepest sympathy and love.

Your friend,
Mike Fay

Hi Trudy and Family It is with such great sadness to hear bout Charlie. I can only imagine what you are going through. He was a real trooper when it came to battling this terrible disease, and by the way so were you. Hopefully a little reminiscence of some times past by can help a bit. Trudy I can remember the day at football practice at North Haven when Charlie said to me "Hey Ralph do you know that girl Trudy Capasso"? I said sure I do. He then said can you introduce me to her. i dont know if you remember that Trudy but I do. And then I remember when we were at Southern Connecticut and I had a part time job with my Dads friend Art Meole as a carpenters helper. Charlie said can you get me as part time job with this guy and he ended up working for him for quite a while. And he never stopped letting me know how much he enjoyed coaching the women's football league - but enough said about that.... Trudy Cindy and I are thinking about you and your family and know that charlie is in a better place. God bless you all and never forget number 42!!!!

Dear Trudy, Marissa and Daughter,
I was told today that Charlie, a most wonderful educator, had died recently. I am so very sorry. He was such a special person and one that many of us remember fondly ...I for one. He had many talents in the teaching field, which I note that so many others around New England knew of as well. Those were "the good days" for Springfield in so many ways...Wayne Ogden, Rod Tulenon, Dick DeYoung, Steve Lorenz and Charlie Meyer...quite a team for our district! And many good memories as well. So please accept my condolences and know that your beloved husband and father left behind wonderful remembrances and a great reputation as an educator and person.

Most sincerely,
Jeanice Garfield
