Dorothy Stoecker Obituary

Mrs. Dorothy Wetzel Stoecker, age 82, of Wilmington died Tuesday, April 10, 2007, at Pender Memorial Hospital.
She was born July 3, 1924, in Milwaukee, WI, and was the daughter of the late Michael Wetzel and Magdalena Mackowiak Wetzel Wisniewski.
Mrs. Stoecker was a longtime member of St. Mark's Catholic Church where she served as a lector. She was an avid golfer and enjoyed painting with oils, playing Mahjongg and volunteering as a "Pink Lady" for many years at Cape Fear Hospital. She also enjoyed traveling the world with her family while her husband served in the U.S. Air Force.
Surviving are her loving family: her husband of sixty-three years, Lt. Col. John G. Stoecker, Jr., USAF, Retired; her children, Michael John Stoecker and wife, Betty, of Gurnee, IL, Patricia Stoecker of Burgaw, Kathleen Prysock and husband, Alan, of Bridgewater, VA, John G. Stoecker, IL, and wife, Rosemary, of Cos Cob, CT, and James John Stoecker and wife, Pamela, of Yorktown, VA; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral Mass will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph The Worker Catholic Church with Father Tim Meares officiating.
The family will receive friends 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. Saturday at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home in Burgaw.

I enjoyed Dotty in the golf shop at pine valley when I worked there. She was always a favorite and my prayers are with all the family. Love and God Bless, Sandy Mills Bray
