GLENN GOODSON Obituary

GLENN W. GOODSON CSM US ARMY Ret. Glenn W Goodson CSM US Army Ret., age 87, of Wilmington, NC passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2015. He was born April 23, 1928 in Lancaster County, SC to the late Harry and Bessie Goodson. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Harold Zane Goodson on May 7, 2015. Surviving is his loving wife of 65 years, Shirley Futchs Goodson; a son Butch Goodson and wife Trish; a daughter Debra Goodson; four grandchildren, Trey Goodson and wife Mandie, Kellie Holcomb and husband Blake, Brian Fulp and wife Melissa, and John Fulp; three great grandchildren, Cameron and Hallie Holcomb, and Caroline Goodson; and a loving sister Elizabeth Robbins; CSM Goodson Retired from The US Army in 1988, at which time he was honored with The Meritorious Service Medal. He was a long time member of the Sudan Shriners, former Captain of the Sudan Shriners Drum and Bugle Corp, and, a member of The Wilmington Masonic Lodge #319 A.F. & A.M. He was a great family man and loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He lived for his family, loving each unconditionally. Share memories and condolences with the family, Sunday May 24th from 4 to 6pm in the Goodson home. Graveside services with full military honors will be held Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Oleander Memorial Gardens. The family would like to Thank, Dr. Peter Zeman, Dr. Aman Pathak and the loving nurses at NHRMC-floors 2 and 7 for their compassionate, loving care. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shriner's Hospitals for Children.

Dear Mrs Shirley, Debra and Butch,

We are so sorry for the passing of Mr Glenn. May God comfort you in this time of loss. Mr Glenn was a wonderful man. As I told you at the funeral, he was so good to my Mom. There is no way she could have raised five kids on her own without the help and generosity of him. He was a very caring and giving man.
