Henry Tull Obituary

HENRY TULL III Henry Tull III passed away Sunday, July 27 in Wilmington, NC, after battling with a long illness. He was born April 3, 1927 in Kinston, NC. He served in the Navy during World War II and he attended the University of North Carolina. He was a tobacconist until marrying Betsy Hammond in 1952 and moved to Hopkinsville and made it his home where he became Vice president of Hammond Moving and Storage. He was a civic leader where he was past president of numerous organizations such as the Chamber of Commerce, United Way campaign, Rotary Club and AUSA in Ft. Campbell. He was very active in the community and was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution, Sons of the Confederacy and the local Boy Scouts of America. Henry was an advocate and great PR person for Hopkinsville and was very involved in local sports where he helped recruit local athletes for the University of Kentucky. He was an active member of the Hopkinsville Country Club and an avid golfer and tennis player. He was a deacon at the First Christian Church for many years. In 1975, he and Betsy moved back to North Carolina and opened a clothing store named "Tull's" where he enjoyed bringing his style and flair of men's clothing to Morehead City. He is survived by his daughters, Lisa Tull of New Orleans, LA., Lynn Tull Sideris of Wilmington, NC and stepson, Jeff Tull of Louisville, KY. He is survived by his grandchildren Allison Johnson, Sarah Walden, Shelton Tull Sledge, Charlotte Nickerson, Chelsea Tull and great grandchildren Olivia Walden, Elijah Walden and Reid Nickerson. Services will be held at a later date to be determined. Donations can be sent in lieu of flowers to the Rotary Club of Hopkinsville or the First Christian Church. Lynn & Lisa,

Henry was always so much fun to be around. Loved the stories about UNC And his "Fondness" for Yankees.

He will be greatly missed.
