My name is Peter Shultz and I believe this Richard Corbett was an old freind of mine. I meet in Chicago when I was 12. He picked me up in Cummington MA and drove me down to Willmington for a visit with he an his folks a few years latter.

I a remember him as a very gentle man. He took a freind of mine and I to see a real sub in Chicago. He came dressed in his uniform and I remember how impressed we were. He got to know my parents and came to dinner several times.

A few years later, during the summer 1966 or so. He drove his T Bird to pick me up in North Carolina. That was fun. I meet his parents and I particularly remember going crabbing.

Thank you Dick, you were a wonderful and great man who help a young boy.

Dear Dr. Corbett: You were one of the kindest, dearest and best persons I ever met or knew. Always helpful. Always honest. Always the kindest impulses. The story you told me of you and your son is one I have never forgotten and one for which I have held you in highest regard. Thank you for your support to help so many young people have a chance at a better life. Heaven is now lucky to have you there.

When I was in high school, I went to Cape Fear Hospital and talked to Dr Corbett. I wanted to be an Xray technician. He was very patient and kind. There was not much going on in Radiology at the time and he suggested I might be better suited for nursing. And here I am. I have been a nurse for 44 years now. Thank you Dr Corbett.

Johnathan :
I first knew your father when he was working at DOSHER in the X-ray Department and I was on the Southport Rescue Squad. I even remember the day that you were adopted how happy he was to have you
We remained good friends. We lived 5 houses down from Dosher my mother and father were also his good friends. He even helped prolong my father's live with his diagnosis of a ruptured abdominal aorta . He would often stop by the house to visit us.
He was a very fine man and every one who is Southport who knew him liked him and considered him a friend. He will be missed by those in Southport and the Doctors and staff at Dosher Hospital who remember him.

Dr. Corbett was such an extraordinary person and I so enjoyed working with him. He was always filled with sincerity and compassion. His love for teaching others was always visible. Prior to HIPAA rules, when we were allowed to participate in bring your kids to work, my son was always excited to spend time with Dr. Corbett learning about reading x-ray studies. He set the bar very high for those who follow. He will be truly missed but will always be in our hearts. Praying for peace and comfort during this time and in the future days for the family.
