Judith Ann Wesoloski

Wilmington - Judith Ann Wesoloski age 77, passed away peacefully at Lower Cape Fear Life Care, Wilmington, NC on March 21, 2021, surrounded by her loving husband and children following a valiant battle after suffering a cerebral hemorrhage while gardening at home at the end of February.

Judy was born in Green Bay, Wisconsin in 1943 while her father was in Europe fighting in WWII. Upon his return in 1945, the family settled in LaCrosse, WI where she grew up with her two younger sisters, Carolyn and Mary. She was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin majoring in Occupational Therapy. Judy also obtained an MA in Education specializing in Reading Disabilities, and she taught children with disabilities at an elementary school in Champaign, Illinois.

On a blind date in Chicago, Judy met the love of her life and husband of 49 years and 9 months, George Wesoloski. Judy and George were married in 1971, and they went on to a live a life of many adventures. Right after their honeymoon, they moved to Colombia, South America, where George completed graduate studies. They returned to the United States and settled in Decatur, Indiana where two of their three children were born. In 1979, they moved to the Island of Puerto Rico where George started a business, and they raised their children. In 1996, Judy and George moved to Landfall, and they have called Wilmington home for the past 25 years. Judy was a member of the Little Chapel on the Boardwalk Church in Wrightsville Beach, and she loved attending the local art fairs.

Judy was an ardent tennis fan. She was fortunate to attend multiple premier tennis tournaments and watch her favorite athletes perform live. She was an avid reader and crossword puzzle fan, completing the daily newspaper puzzle during breakfast every day. She loved to bird watch. While bluebirds were her favorite, Judy delighted in the visits to her backyard garden from cardinals, woodpeckers, hummingbirds, chickadees, and an assortment of ducks, geese and every so often the sighting of a giant egret. Judy took great care in maintaining and monitoring the bluebird nest boxes as a participant of the Bluebird Project at Landfall, which helped sustain the local bluebird population.

She was the daughter of Frank and Leanore Carlson of LaCrosse, WI. She is survived by her husband, George Wesoloski, daughters, Kristin Diver of Decatur, GA, Lisa Wesoloski of Sunnyvale, CA and son, Erik Wesoloski of Coral Gables, FL. She leaves two sisters Carolyn Schaut of Wausau, WI and Mary Minich of Edmonds, WA. Judy also leaves behind 6 grandchildren, Michael, Isabel, Brett, Adam, Mackenzie and Evika.

She'll be missed by many of her friends in the community, including friends at Little Chapel on the Boardwalk Church, the Country Club of Landfall, the Returned Peace Corps Volunteers Assoc, and the Wilmington Senior Softball Assoc. She will be sorely missed.

A celebration of her life will be on April 10 at 11:00 am at the Little Chapel on The Boardwalk in Wrightsville Beach. The family kindly requests donations in her honor be sent to Lower Cape Fear Life Care, or to the Little Chapel on the Boardwalk, Wrightsville Beach, NC.

Our families met in Decatur, Indiana, during the 1970's. Judy was always a kind, gracious and loving person. As life directed our different paths, we always stayed in touch by means of Christmas cards and later by email. Our lives were all enhanced by having known Judy as a friend.

We extend our deepest condolences to you, George, as well as Kristen, Lisa and Erik.
