Such a wonderful, kind, talented young man. So many years ago he attended my college class and I remember him as a studious , questioning student. His prose was at an A+ level. And could he sing! Now he is singing with the angels.

I first met Kevin at the Sheriff's Office. I have always held him in the respect. He always had a smile and kind words. I recently ran into him at the health department and we had a wonderful conversation. Kevin, I will truly miss your smile. Rest in peace my friend. My heartfelt sympathy and prayers go out to the family.

I worked at the courthouse for ten years and remember Kevin as a bailiff and I always remember him smiling. I was shocked and sad to hear of his passing. My prayers are with his family and friends.

I worked with Kevin at the Health Department. As others have written, Kevin was a joy to have as a member of our work family. He was hard-working, always willing to help, and had a kind heart. We all miss him very much. His friends and his family are in my prayers.

Dear Betty and Alan, I have no words to give you comfort at this time but I know who will. Our Comfortor the Holy Spirit will hold you fast as long as you need him. Luther lived a full life and I know you wanted that for your Kevin too. Im jsut so sad for all of you. I'm sorry that I did not make it to your visitation but I knew you understood the freshness of my own loss. So glad that Kathryn was there for April aand Chandler. I am so very sorry for your loss. Kevin was a student of mine at CFCC so very many years ago. He was a hard working, talented young man. His Geology essay work was always at a high level.
Poetry writers and Karyoke singers shall sing his praise. We shall miss him.

To the dear parents, sister, brother & extended family of Kevin. My heartfelt condolences go out to each and every one of you on the passing of Kevin, which I was so saddened to hear about. I work at the health department and when I saw Kevin first thing in the morning he always had a smile for you. We talked of many things, his love of music, his writings and his drawings; he would leave these free hand drawings throughout the health department, you would see them on bulletin boards, dry erase boards or sheets of paper, these were amazing, he had a special talent. After he showed me poems or cards that he wrote, I would always tell him he could write for hallmark or start his own business, he had such a way with words. And we talked about food, how he loved to cook and experiment with new things and he would show me pictures of a new dish he had made and enjoyed with his brother, his twin who he didn't have enough great things to say about you Brad. He talked about you all the time and your special bond and I'm so sorry he left you, his sister and his parents too soon. He talked about how special his whole family was, he was so proud when he talked about all of you. He was so considerate, and polite and had such a gentle soul. Although I knew him for a short time, I'm glad I got to know him. My thoughts & prayers are with all of you.

People come into your life and they touch your heart and soul and may never even realize this ... Kevin Maynard was this person ... He touched every heart at the NHCHD .... ALWAYS with a smile - EVERYDAY used his security tag to get us through the doors when we forgot ours, always made us laugh, had such a positive outlook on life, so Artistic and TALENTED, wrote the most beautiful poems, told us his life stories, asked us our opinions, your laugh & smile and positive words of encouragement will be dearly missed - it is tragic that you are gone and you are greatly missed from our family at the HD - RIP Kevin I hope you are in true peace our friend and coworker! -

We at the New Hanover County Health Department will miss him greatly. He welcomed us to work each and every morning with a beautiful smile and a pleasant "good morning" that started our day with joy. He was creative, talented, wise, personable, conscientious, hard working, and a joy to know. I am sure he has found peace and love on his journey.
