Robert Williams Obituary

ROBERT T. WILLIAMS, SR.

"MURPH - BUDDY"

Robert Thomas Williams, Sr., 65, of Wilmington, died Wednesday, August 27, 2008, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice & LifeCareCenter.

He was known to his friends and family as "Murph" or "Buddy". He was born September 25, 1942, in Salisbury, NC, son of the late Murry Alexander Williams and Elwanda Carter Williams. His daughter, Cynthia Ann Williams, preceded him in death.

Murph had played football for Granite Quarry (the first East Rowan High School football team) and obtained a scholarship to Wingate College. He was a self-employed, licensed plumber who loved his grandchildren and enjoyed football and cookouts with family, friends and neighbors.

He is survived by his son, Robert "Robbie" Williams, Jr. and wife, Sharon, of Faith, NC; best friend, Sheron Wagner, of Wilmington, NC; and grandchildren, Lauren and Logan Sauers of Castle Hayne, NC.

Celebrations of Life, for family and friends, will be held in Faith, NC, and Wilmington, NC, at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Murph's memory to American Cancer Society, 1414-D South College Road, Wilmington, NC 28403.
