Tom, I will miss seeing you when I'm back home in Wilmington, NC visiting family. You took my favorite photo of our old house on Masonboro Sound Road in the snow, thank you for that. And thank you for taking an interest in my career as a photographer and for the beautiful book of photography that you gave me. You will be missed! Rest in peace.

A fair and kind employer at Carolina Canners who gave me a job that lasted 41 years. By far one of the smartest businessmen that ever lived. Condolences to his dear family.

Mr. Hiles was such an incredible man. My grandfather and Tom had some great times, always telling some of the funniest stories. Mr. Hiles had the ability to effortlessly make me laugh every time we spoke. I will miss seeing him messing around on the boat. I know he will be greatly missed. Sharon, Heather and Alex we are so sorry for your loss.

Sharon, Heather and Family,
Pam and I send our deepest sympathy in your loss. We all experience a loss in Toms passing. He was one of the most engaging and accomplished individuals I ever had the privilege to know, and I shall always treasure his friendship. We shared special times that we shall forever remember; riding with you all in the Goodyear blimp; sitting in the box with you all and the Jack Kemps and Pete Rozelles at the Reagan pre-inaugural, front and center with Frank Sinatra and General Omar Bradley; his enabling my legal career with the assignments he asked me to take upon our initial return to SC from DC; dinner with Mr. Honickman and Bob McNair at Cote Basque in NYC; being guests in your home in Cheraw; other significant events too numerous to mention. Whatever and wherever, Tom always went first class and was first class. There never will be another like him. He served many in all walks of his life in many ways.
I shall miss Tom. We regret that we are unable to be at the services tomorrow. Pam joins me in our deepest sympathy, and also in celebrating the remarkable life of a national leader in his industry, a good and wise man, and a memorable friend.
