Virginia Jeremias Obituary

VIRGINIA COLEMAN JEREMIAS

"GINGER"

Virginia Coleman "Ginger" Jeremias, age 89, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday morning, April 5, 2012.

She was born on August 15, 1922, and was the daughter of the late Rev. James Franklin Coleman and Sara Daniel Coleman of Buena Vista, VA. She played basketball at Effinger High School (Rockbridge County, VA) and graduated from Southern Seminary (Buena Vista, VA) with an Associates Degree.

Ginger and her late husband Charles Otto Jeremias, Jr., were married in 1946. They raised their children in Cambridge, MD, and Baltimore, MD, and retired to Wilmington in 1978. Ginger was a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church where her son Steve is Assistant Pastor. Her favorite pastimes included playing bridge with friends and tending her vegetable and flower gardens. After moving to Wilmington she spent much of her time hosting visits from family members and her house was a central meeting place that allowed her children and grandchildren to maintain close relationships with her and each other. Ginger will be fondly remembered for her sweetness and wonderful sense of humor.

Ginger was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She is survived by her four sons, Charles Robert Jeremias and wife Debra (Atlanta, GA), Ronald Jeremias and wife Joann (Woodbridge, VA), Rev. James Jeremias and wife Connie (Lexington, VA), and Rev. Steve Jeremias and wife Judy (Wilmington, NC). She is also survived by her eight beloved grandchildren, John Jeremias, Jennifer Jeremias, David Jeremias and wife Jessica, Daniel Jeremias and wife Crystal, Amanda Jeremias, Cassie Jeremias, Justin Jeremias and wife Grace, and Jordan Jeremias; her three great-grandchildren Jocelyn, Tristan, and Lydia; and her beloved dog Fluffy.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 pm Saturday, April 7, 2012, at Andrews Mortuary Valley Chapel followed by a service beginning at 3:00 pm with Rev. Margaret Hockett officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401.

Bobby, Ron, Steve, and Jim,

I am extremely sorry to hear about the loss of your mother. She was a wonderful woman and I have many joyful memories of times spent with your family. I know my mom was very fond of Aunt Ginger, as she was her most favorite aunt.

With deepest sympathy,
Leslie Blair, daughter of Beverly Seay Williams
