Joseph T. Rogel, 70, of Peru, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family in his home on January 23, 2023.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday in the Zion United Church of Christ of Peru with Rev. Alex Garncarz officiating. Visitation will be 5-7:00 PM Friday at the Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle. Additional visitation will be in the church on Saturday from 10:00 AM until time of services.

Joe was born in Peru on October 24, 1952 to Thomas and Josephine (Dombrowski) Rogel. He married Ramona "Mona" Dergance on October 16, 1976. He worked as a diesel mechanic at Ziebert Transport and then in maintenance for Haun Management.

Joe enjoyed gardening, fixing, and building things. He was jack of all trades. He loved karaoke and even owned a karaoke business, Uncle Joe Karaoke. He also enjoyed hunting, processing deer, and making sausage. He was well liked and loved spending time with his grandkids.

Joe is survived by one son Thomas "TJ" (Stacy) Rogel of Peru; one daughter Trisha (Ricky) Cranney of TX and her children; three grandchildren Tanner, Aiden, and Parker; and one sister Mary Beth (Dennis) Patterson of Germantown Hills.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Mona on March 3, 2021, and his daughter Amy Rogel on November 15, 2022.

Pallbearers will be Bill and Evan Entrican, Tanner Rogel, Dennis Patterson, Ryan Jones, and John Swift.
