STATESBORO, Ga. -- Ruby D. Barnes Adams, age 88, passed away in her home on early Friday, July 23rd, surrounded by her family after a long illness. She was under the care of Affinis Hospice.
Ruby received her education from Middle Ground School. She attended Nevils Creek Primitive Baptist Church.
She enjoyed fishing, gardening, camping and spending time with her family and friends.
She was one of five children born to Frank and Ida Mae Roberts Daughtry of Portal, Ga. She was preceded in death by John Daughtry, Dorothy Zetterower, Grace Beasley and Frank Daughtry.
Survivors include: a daughter, Betty Sue Barnes Douglas (Aubrey, deceased); son, George Barnes Jr. (Vickie); daughter, Linda Barnes Hendrix (Mitchell, deceased); son, John Lloyd Barnes (Dorothy); son, Alfred Barnes (Julie); grandchildren, Lisa, Shelley, Georgette, George III, Mitch, Jason, Jessica, Josie, A.J. and April; great-grandchildren, Kayla, Ashley, Morgan, Alyssa, Joey, Camden, Mason, Megan, Halie, L.J.; and a sister, Betty Cowan; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Tuesday, July 27th, at 10 a.m. at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home in Statesboro.
The funeral service will follow beginning at 11 a.m. in the chapel at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home with Pastor Thomas Hendrix and Jason Mallard officiating. She will be laid to rest at Bulloch Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
