I just came home from the mountains & learned of Mr. Ferrence's passing. I am so so sorry to hear that but I am also so honored to have met him. We enjoyed several long talks-mostly of the war- but he also related fond stories of his children when they were younger and his new great grandchildren. He showed great compassion to my family when we lost our own soldier in Iraq last year; he cried as he consolled my sister and said that a day doesn't go by that he doesn't miss his own friends- lost to the battle field, so many years ago. He was a wonderful man, a good neighbor and a true American hero. His memory is one to be proud of and he will be missed. God speed, Mr. Ferrence! The corner of Granade and Brannen is a little darker, but I know heaven is shining brighter!
