Barbara Lala Obituary

Barbara Helen Bedford Lala (Bobbye) Barbara Helen Bedford Lala (Bobbye). Barbara died January 30, 2007 in Krosno, Poland, where she had recently moved to live with her son, Jack Lala III. Barbara was a long time resident of Austin, moving there in 1964 with her husband, Jack Lala, Jr. She was born in Tampa, Florida, September 22, 1929, and married her childhood sweetheart, Jack Jr., January 13, 1951. Barbara attended the University of Tampa, and The Charity Hospital School of Nursing in New Orleans, LA. She dedicated her life to her family and her vocation, nursing. She was involved in a number of volunteer organizations, especially the American Cancer society. She worked as both a nurse and administrator at Seton Medical Center, and later the University of Texas Health Care Center. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack, in 1992. Besides her son, Barbara is survived by her sister, Joanne Fisher of Riverview, FL; brothers, John Stokesberry of Miami, FL, James Stokesberry of Tallahasee, FL; sister, Linda Lowe of California; and sisters-in-law, Catherine F. Lala and Pat Greig of Austin, Texas. Honorary pallbearers are Timothy Cook, Darrell DeGlandon and Jim Templeton of Austin, and Gary Peterson of Spring, TX. These were her "other" sons. Her remains will be returned to Austin at a future date, and a memorial service will be held. Those wishing to remember her are asked to make donations to the American Cancer Society or the Make a Wish foundation.

Bobbye was a terrific lady and my friend... she will be missed by all of us who were lucky enough to have had her in our lives.
